Dr Margaret Lett
Dr Margaret Lett is a registered nurse and a Doctor of Nursing. She has extensive experience as an auditor and clinical educator and is passionate about continuous quality improvement. She has published many articles, presented at many major national and international conferences, and conducted a number of funded research projects.
Margaret has a strong background in nursing care, within both the acute and aged care sectors. Her early training was in accident & emergency and intensive care. She then worked at Ballan Bush Nursing Hospital and Hostel over a number of years.
Margaret is a registered aged care assessor and has worked for the Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency both as an internal and as an external assessor.
Over recent years Margaret has been involved in the development and implementation of ISO quality management systems for various organisations including:
- Department of Human Services, Juvenile Justice
- Australian Catholic University (ACU) - School of Nursing, Melbourne, Ballarat and Sydney campuses.
The quality system developed and introduced by Margaret for ACU, was subsequently commended by the external ISO auditors for its innovation and international quality standard.
Margaret’s role as a clinical educator has included educating undergraduates and Honours and Masters level students in nursing practice and professional practice.
Projects conducted by Margaret since joining AHA include:
- Program evaluation for a rural health service
- Social Mission Imperatives Project for Catholic Social Services Victoria
- Integrated Service Delivery Project, a State and Federally funded project aimed at better integrating community and healthcare services
- Training of staff in quality improvement, for ACU School of Nursing
- Nursing consultant for the DVA Community Nursing Services review program.
