In 2009 AHA was appointed by the Victorian Department of Human Services (DHS) to conduct external quality assurance reviews of Community Service Organisations (CSO) funded by the Children, Youth and Families Division of DHS to provide Family Services and Out of Home Care Services
The external reviews conducted by AHA are part of the tri-annual re-registration process for CSOs. CSOs also conduct internal reviews of their performance in relation to the Registration Standards. This process aims to ensure quality services and promote children’s rights to safety, stability and healthy development.
AHA conducted reviews of 47 CSOs, over the period May 2009 – March 2010.
In 2011 AHA was appointed by DHS to conduct the second round of reviews. AHA is scheduled to conduct reviews of 69 organisations during the period July 2011 – June 2013. It should be noted however that the planned introduction of the Department of Human Services Standards may impact on the conduct of reviews after June 2012
