After Hours Primary Medical Care (AHPMC) - National Program Evaluation

AHA was engaged by the Department of Health and Ageing (DoHA) to conduct the national evaluation of the AHPMC program.  The evaluation involved examining the appropriateness, effectiveness and efficiency of the program in meeting its aims and objectives over the past four years.

The After Hours Primary Medical Care program was introduced as a component of the Federal Budget with funding of $43 million over four years.  The purpose of the program was to improve access to quality after hours primary medical care and progress systemic reform by trialling key interventions.

Our evaluation included a comprehensive analysis of each component of the AHPMC Program, including:
  • AHPMC Trials
  • Development Grants program (further details below)
  • Quality Innovation Funding
  • GP-Hospital Integration Demonstration Sites.

The evaluation was completed in 2005.  For further information, please contact Richard Stock from AHA on 1300 788 667.
