The Queensland Department of Communities (Disability and Community Care Services) has appointed Australian Healthcare Associates to evaluate the Transitional Recovery Program, Resident Recovery Program and the Transition from Correctional Facilities Program.
The evaluation will assist in ensuring that the development and implementation of service models for the three Transition to Recovery programs are based on the best available evidence.
The Department intends to use the evidence gained from the evaluation to guide service and policy development in relation to support programs for people with a mental illness. Specifically, the evaluation will be used to inform Government of how community based mental health support programs influence outcomes for clients and their carers.
The evaluation is due for completion in June 2012.
