Kindergarten Inclusion Support program

The Kindergarten Inclusion Support (KIS) program builds the capacity of Victorian state‑funded kindergartens to support the participation of children with disability, developmental delay or complex medical needs.

By helping to increase engagement of children with disability in kindergarten programs, the KIS program aims to enhance the learning and development of all children. State-funded kindergarten programs may apply for one or more of the following types of support:

  • additional staff to deliver the kindergarten program to all children in the group
  • specialist consultancy support
  • specialist training for early childhood educators
  • funding for minor building modifications.

To receive assistance from the KIS program, kindergartens must apply for support from the KIS program.

The Victorian Department of Education has engaged AHA to:

  • assess all KIS applications from October 2024
  • undertake a review and update of the KIS application forms, documentation and assessment processes in early 2025
  • subsequently assess KIS applications using the new KIS application forms, documentation and processes.

AHA employs a team of highly experienced early childhood educators and allied health professionals to assess applications for the KIS program. Our team of project support officers also provide a high level of customer service to kindergartens, KIS providers, and the department through our help desk.

More information about the KIS program is available on the department’s website.

The additional resources provided by the KIS program support inclusion of every child to create genuine opportunities for children with disability to participate in kindergarten programs.
