The NSPP provides funding totalling approximately $25 million annually to national and local projects directly aimed at reducing suicides. Funded activities encompass:
AHA evaluated the NSPP and selected projects from the Taking Action to Tackle Suicide (TATS) package, for the seven-year period from 2006-07 to 2012-13. This work included developing a framework for ongoing NSPP evaluation, and developing and implementing a minimum data set (MDS) to collect and analyse data from NSPP-funded projects.
Following the evaluation, AHA was engaged by the Department to continue to collect, analyse and report MDS data submitted by funded projects until 2016. AHA’s role includes providing guidance and support for projects to meet their MDS reporting obligations.
