Josephine Motta

Josephine is a psychologist with over 12 years’ experience working in schools with adolescents and their families.

This work has involved conducting psychological, behavioural and educational assessments to investigate academic and behavioural difficulties and she has certified training in ADOS-2 assessments. This work has also involved liaising with staff and parents, providing them with information and strategies to assist in their interaction and teaching of students.

Josephine has extensive experience conducting one to one counselling with students in regard to a number of issues including depression, anxiety, grief, stress, motivation, relationship difficulties and bullying. Josephine also has been involved in the development of policies in order to foster and ensure the well-being of students and staff.  She has been involved in the implementation and running of a number of group programs and workshops in relation to anxiety, depression, social skills and cognitive assessment.

Josephine has conducted numerous assessments for funding applications and has written comprehensive assessment reports in relation to her findings. In addition, she has gained in-depth experience evaluating applications for funding eligibility against measurement criteria across a range of disabilities. She has gained this experience in both the Catholic school system as well as the Government school system.

Josephine previously worked for many years with Assessments Australia when they held the PSD evaluation contract and since 2014 she has worked as a Senior Evaluator on the PSD Evaluation Team at AHA.

In Senior Evaluator role at AHA, Josephine has been instrumental in developing resources to support the evaluation process and providing training in regard to new guidelines for evaluating. This role has also required her to liaise with key staff at the Department of Education as well as mentoring and providing support to the team of psychologists, speech pathologists and the special education teacher at AHA.

Her qualifications include:

  • Bachelor of Applied Science (Honours)
  • Master of Psychology (Educational and Developmental Psychology)
  • Member of the Australian Psychology Society
  • Registered Psychologist with the Psychologist Board of Australia
  • Endorsement in Educational and Developmental Psychology (in Progress)
