This major national project required us to provide expert assistance to the Federal Department of Health and Ageing (DoHA) in implementing the new funding and accreditation arrangements. We developed documentation and provided training to explain the new system to providers. We designed, trained, conducted and evaluated the training of 20,000 aged care participants.

Key features of the system which we addressed were the new:

  • Funding system for service providers based on client classification
  • Assessment tools for the classification of clients
  • Quality standards accreditation process.

In total, over a five-month period, our team of 150 aged care professionals presented 720 seminars, in relation to the new funding system, covering 4,000 nursing home and hostel organisations at locations throughout all regions of metropolitan and rural Australia.

We also trained and advised the Aged Care Assessment Teams (ACAT) across Australia in the use of the new Client Assessment Instrument and their role under the new aged care funding reforms.
