The National Resource Centre (NRC) is administered by the Alcohol and Other Drugs Council of Australia (ADCA) and is a specialised information clearinghouse and library for the Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) sector.

The role of the NRC is to identify the evidence base for the AOD sector, and facilitate the application of good practice by focusing its collection services on the knowledge and information needs of the sector.

AHA’s evaluation, conducted on behalf of the Department of Health, assessed the appropriateness, effectiveness and efficiency of the NRC.  Our report provided a detailed assessment of the NRC’s performance against its endorsed objectives, regarding each of the following:

  • Reference services and databases
  • Communication and networking
  • Providing access to research
  • AOD sector leadership and membership
  • Collection management
  • Service quality
  • Promotion of NRC services.

Findings from this evaluation were used by the Department of Health to inform the development of the funding agreement for the coming three year cycle.

The role of the NRC is to identify the evidence base for the Alcohol and Other Drug sector, and facilitate the application of good practice by focusing its collection services on the knowledge and information needs of the sector.
