The National Advisory Council on Mental Health provides independent and confidential advice to the Australian Government on mental health issues as requested by the Minister for Health and Ageing.

The Council commissioned AHA to provide a report on the Mental Health Nurse Incentive Program (MHNIP). AHA's work included developing case studies of the program's implementation in seven different localities across Australia.

Our analysis explored the different service bases that have been used for implementing the program including, general practice clinics, private psychiatry clinics, aboriginal health services and divisions of general practice, amongst others.

Each case study that we developed includes information about the context in which the program is delivered and its governance. The service model is described in detail, including formal and informal working relationships with other local care providers.
