AHA conducted a number of strategic disability service reviews as part of the Department’s ongoing quality monitoring and review processes.

Reviews were conducted of the following service providers:

• Bendigo Community Preparation Program
• Latrobe Community Health Service
• Milparinka Adult Training Unit
• Latrobe Lifeskills
• Asteria Services Inc (previously – Wattle Human Services)
• Karkana Support Services
• Mulleraterong Centre Inc

The multi-dimensional reviews involved investigating and assessing the appropriateness and quality of:

• Client outcomes and the extent to which the services of the agency are directed by service users needs and aspirations
• Service delivery processes across the agency
• Strategic and business planning systems, and management and coordination to meet duty of care and quality of care outcomes
• Agency relationships with clients, carers, staff and other relevant organisations.

Consultations were conducted with clients, parents, staff, management and community members, and recommendations were provided to address deficiencies in each of the review areas.

The review also identified areas of good practice and identified future directions in line with the State government plan for disability services.
