The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) engaged AHA to evaluate the effectiveness of the Culturally Equitable Gateways Strategy (CEGS).

The evaluation involved the following key elements:

  • Broad stakeholder consultation with clients, project workers and DHHS regional staff
  • Collection and analysis of data and surveys from CEGS funded agencies
  • Analysis of three years of MDS data
  • Analysis of selected frameworks in each of the four regions in the State.

Key outcomes from the review included:

  • Consideration of the roles of the CEGS Project Workers, which were funded by the strategy, and recommendations regarding their future roles
  • Recommendations for future development of CEGS.
The CEGS program aimed to expand and improve the use of mainstream HACC services by people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
