On behalf of the Commonwealth Department of Health, AHA evaluated the HACC National Service Standards Instrument (NSSI) and the first three year appraisal process.

The project used assessment surveys and consultation to identify major issues facing community care service providers in undertaking the assessment process, and State/Territory Governments in implementing the process, throughout the three year program.

Information sources included State/Territory officials and focus groups conducted with service providers nationally.

AHA’s evaluation identified:

  • service providers’ level of compliance with the HACC Standards
  • appropriateness of the NSSI as a tool to measure compliance with HACC Standards
  • Options for the way forward in ensuring quality in service delivery for community care service providers.

This project demonstrates AHA’s unique insight to the community care service system nationally.
