The Department of Human Services-Hume Region appointed AHA to conduct a comprehensive review of the Alcohol and Other Drug Youth Outreach (AODYOR) program.

The review included:

  • Assessment of the service model compared to best practice
  • An analysis of the critical issues and risks for youth outreach services
  • Investigation of varying models of youth outreach
  • Identifying best practise models that provide services operating collaboratively to link young people to cross sector services
  • Understanding the needs of the communities of Hume Region
  • Recommendations on how the existing and future service should be configured to meet future demands whilst focusing on engaging and maintaining contact with young people across the four catchments of the Hume Region.

The review entailed consultations with a range of stakeholders, and a policy and document review. A series of recommendations were developed from the findings regarding service model and policy changes to ensure the AODYOR model provided safe and accessible services for young people.
