Strategic services planning reviews were undertaken of rural based hospitals such as Maffra, Creswick, and Elmore all of which were threatened with closure under their existing structure as an acute funded hospital.
Services planning and financial business plans were conducted for other rural isolated centres such as Nhill Hospital, Orbost Hospital, Leongatha and Korumburra Hospitals and for Veteran’s Affairs on Norfolk Island.
These reviews examined the hospitals current role and function and the possible future structures and roles that would be appropriate given the level and type of demand for health services in the community they served and the availability of alternative funding streams.
