AHA was appointed by the Victorian Government to develop a single set of service quality standards for department-funded service providers and department-managed services. Previously, different program areas had different requirements and processes.

AHA developed and implemented a practical, integrated and streamlined approach to the quality accreditation and review processes for community sector services, which maintained a client focus.

The new approach encompassed three different program areas – Disability services; Housing and community building; Children, youth and families.  Previously these programs had different quality review processes and standards, as follows:

  • Standards for Disability Services in Victoria
  • Registration Standards for Community Service Organisations
  • Homelessness Assistance Services Standards.

Our work included extensive consultations with the program areas, sector representatives, peak bodies and consumer representatives.

The outcome was the implementation of streamlined and efficient quality accreditation processes across the community sector, thereby assisting these organisations to improve services for clients.  Further details about the Human Services Standards are available at the Department’s website.

The Standards and Evidence Guide represents a single set of standards for Department-funded providers and managed services.
